New mobile yogurt factory for Nigeria

In November 2021, a new project was unveiled in Drachten, the Netherlands: a mobile drinkyogurt factory for Nigeria. This factory was developed through a collaboration between Friesland Campina and Scherjon Dairy Equipment. This project is part of the Dairy Development Programme. That is a dairy cooperative that supports local farmers to increase their milk production, improve the quality of the milk and offers them access to the market.

“We are proud that we could be part of this Friesland Campina project. Friesland Campina is a company that sets high standards for such projects. With this project we show that we can meet those requirements and can offer a high quality standard.” said Hielke Scherjon.

The containers will be shipped to Nigeria shortly. There, the new yoghurt factory will start processing 1.8 million kilos of milk and can produce more than 18 million bags of drinkyoghurt per year.

“It was a great project for Scherjon to work on. The factory is build from several containers, which makes it a beautiful but complicated process” said Johannes Scherjon.

The factory will be commissioned in the first quarter of 2022 in Nigeria.
