Scherjon Dairy Equipment builds pasteurization factory for nomads

The nomads in Mali were looking for a solution to their problem: how can we process milk from our animals so we can keep it fresh for a longer time. The challenge of this lies in the fact that nomads are an itinerant people. So, the search was on for a small factory that can pasteurize different types of milk. The solution was found at Scherjon Dairy Equipment.

Scherjon Dairy Equipment is experienced in providing solutions in Africa. They have already completed several projects in this continent. As a result, they were well aware of the wishes and needs of the African nomads.

The result is a small pasteurization factory, where milk is received, pasteurized, cooled and stored. In addition, the factory offers the possibility to clean the milk cans for new use. A real mini factory where everything can be arranged from A to Z.

The milk can therefore be pasteurized on site and cooled to 5 degrees. Then the milk is filled into milk bottles or milk cans. After the process, the milk can be temporarily stored in a cold store. This offers the nomads of Mali an opportunity to properly process their milk. The factory is powered by an engine room, which includes a generator and chiller.

The factory was conceived and built in Surhuisterveen, the Netherlands. It was then transported to the African country of Mali. The factory was built in a 40ft sea container so that it could be shipped. In this way we were able to apply our knowledge and technology in the Netherlands for users in Africa. This allowed us to provide a (mobile) plug-and-play solution for the African nomads.

In short, this was a great challenge for Scherjon Dairy Equipment and a perfect solution for the nomads in Mali.
